In my world – the world of PR and communications – there’s always a fresh story to tell when it comes to travel, food, wellness, design, and lifestyle. And that’s exactly my role at Black Tomato as Senior PR Manager: to share inspiring stories about our trips with the media, and with the world. Born in London and raised between Japan and New York, I nurtured my curious nature early on (whether it’s trying a new restaurant at the end of my block or the latest hotel opening on the other side of the globe, I’m always open-minded). So, to me, there’s no better job. There’s always something new to absorb day to day.
When I’m not working, you’ll find me on the tennis court, wandering around the art galleries and museums of New York, taking photographs, or drawing. A little bit of this, a little bit of that.
"I challenged myself to go out deeper under the water again"
A closer look at FinlandIt was late March in Helsinki – snow still coating the ground – when I went to a spa that was situated right along the Baltic Sea. The idea of doing a cold plunge hadn’t ever crossed my mind before. But sitting in the hot sauna, the water right there (and with an extra push from my mom), I felt like I could do it.
I slowly climbed down the ladder off the dock and dipped my legs into the water to begin. It was colder than cold; more freezing than freezing. I immediately retreated to the sauna to warm up – but challenged myself to go out deeper under the water again.
The next time, I submerged up to my shoulders. I felt such a sense of clarity and euphoric energy that I had never experienced before. It suddenly made so much sense why people do this all the time. This spontaneous wild cold plunge was my first, but it wasn’t my last. It wasn’t too long after that I went for it again in the British countryside. I jumped in, that time.
Take me there
