Travel is strange. When you place your memories side by side, the effect can feel like a kaleidoscope. Road tripping from San Francisco to Las Vegas, skiing in Whistler, camping in the Tuscan Hills, kayaking along the rivers of Dordogne. They flicker past.
And these were only early journeys – first steps. Later, I’d travel through Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam. What I learnt here – beyond a lot of resilience – was the real beauty of freedom. You can just go.
All of this led me to Black Tomato. As Client Experience Manager, I have the privilege of listening to our travelers, making sure your experience with us – from the very first hello through to a trip’s finale – hits just right. Call it an obsession, if you will. Inspiring people through remarkable travel experiences is the purpose that defines Black Tomato, and I leave no stone unturned to ensure it happens.
'the rewards of traveling slowly'
A closer look at NamibiaOn Namibia’s Skeleton Coast – close to the dunes of the world’s oldest desert – I was reminded of the rewards of traveling slowly. Of taking a longer journey along winding, remote roads.
As we drove, we saw a plume of dust rise from behind a bush. The next, we turned a corner to be face-to-face with a desert-adapted elephant, chomping on a light lunch of camel thorn. This was my first time seeing an elephant in the wild – completely incredible in itself. But against a literally picture-perfect backdrop of sweeping white sand dunes? Even more so.
Whenever I get caught up in how fast the world moves sometimes, the memory of this moment is my reminder to take it slow.
