Day 1
The adventure begins

Touching down in Illulissat (the gateway to Disko Bay), you’ll be met by your private driver who’ll ferry you straight to The Icefjord Center. Breathing in dazzling views of Kangia Icefjord, you’ll learn about the historic importance of ice in Greenland through the center’s modern art instillations and exhibitions. Then, you’ll set off on your first adventure. Hiking across Sermermiut Valley, you’ll discover its 4500-year-old Inuit settlements before picnicking beside the icebergs of Ilulissat Icefjord. Finally, you’ll head, by RIB boat, to Saqqaq Camp in Disko Bay – your home for the next few nights.

Swimming with icebergs

With your tent pitched right by the water’s edge, you’ll rise to sweeping views of Disko Bay. Today, you’ll get up close and personal with the surrounding icebergs – by paddleboarding, and then by swimming; equipped with a specially designed survival drysuit. In the evening, you’ll cozy up by the fire; reflecting on the day’s pursuits over a steaming cup of Greenlandic coffee. It’s like Irish coffee, only stronger.

Accompanied by your expert guide – and local fisherman – you’ll learn traditional Inuit fishing techniques before hauling in your catch. In the afternoon, you’ll head out once more. This time, seeking whales. By boat, you’ll cross over Arctic waters, watching as these majestic creatures dip, dive, and leap to their heart’s content.

Nuup Kangerlua

Deep within Greenland’s fjord system, the 160km-long fjord of Nuup Kangerlua is home to some of the oldest mountains in the world. Beneath their 3.8-billion-year-old peaks, you’ll find the ancient sites of Inuit summer hunting grounds. Far from civilization, this is a world of starlit skies, arctic char, and frozen wilds.

After touching down, you’ll be met by your helicopter pilot. They’ll take you soaring over Nuuk Fjord (the second largest fjord system in the world) towards Camp Kiattua, your private camp. Along the way, you’ll stop off at Sermitsiaq mountain; pausing to drink in the views from Nuuk’s most iconic pyramid-shaped peak as you sip champagne.
